How to update your address
- 1
Notify the HSE PCRS
Call 0818 22 44 78 or update online at medicalcard.ie. Give your PPS number and new address. The HSE will post an updated card to your new address.
- 2
Notify your current GP
Let your current GP know you are moving. If you are moving to a different area, you will need to register with a new GP.
- 3
Register with a new GP (if moving area)
Find a GP in your new area who accepts medical card patients. Not all GPs accept new medical card patients — call ahead to confirm before registering. Give them your PPS number and they can verify your medical card status directly with the HSE.
What happens to your entitlement
Moving address does not change your medical card entitlement. If your income has not changed significantly, your card will continue as normal. The HSE only reassesses your means if there is a reason to do so — a change of address alone does not trigger a reassessment.
