How to get a replacement card
Call the HSE PCRS
Call 0818 22 44 78 (Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm). Tell them your medical card is lost and give your PPS number. They will post a replacement card within a few working days.
Online through medicalcard.ie
Log in to medicalcard.ie with your PPS number and request a replacement card through your account. This is the fastest option if you have online access.
Your medical card entitlement does not changeLosing your physical card does not affect your entitlement to a medical card. Your GP can still see you — they can verify your status by PPS number while the replacement is in the post.
What about urgent GP visits while waiting?
Tell your GP your card was lost and give them your PPS number. Most GPs can verify your medical card status by PPS number directly with the HSE and will see you at no charge while your replacement card is being sent.
