What to do if your PPS is taking too long
- 1
Check your post carefully
Your PPS number arrives by post in a plain envelope from the Department of Social Protection. Check that it hasn't been delivered to a different address or lost in the post.
- 2
Call the Intreo office where you had your appointment
Call the specific office that handled your appointment. Have your full name, date of birth, and the date of your appointment ready. Ask them to check the status of your application.
- 3
Call the Department of Social Protection helpline
If the local office can't help, call the Department of Social Protection on 071 919 3302. Explain you had your PPS appointment, give your details, and ask for a status update.

If asked — provide any missing documents quickly
Sometimes a delay means your application is on hold pending a missing document. If they tell you this, get the required document to them as fast as possible — by post or in person.
