How EDT is logged

Each EDT lesson is logged by your instructor on the RSA's online system. You don't need to keep your own record — the system tracks your completed lessons and your eligibility to book the driving test is linked to this record.

You can check your EDT log at rsa.ie using your learner permit number. Once all 12 lessons are logged, the system allows you to book the driving test at rsa.ie.

Finding an approved instructor

You must use an RSA-approved driving instructor (ADI) for EDT lessons — lessons with a friend or family member do not count. A full list of ADIs is available at rsa.ie/adi. Shop around — prices vary significantly between instructors and areas.

Not all driving instructors are RSA-approvedOnly RSA-approved ADIs can log EDT lessons. Always confirm your instructor is on the RSA's approved list before booking a course of lessons — otherwise your lessons won't count.
