When to start the renewal process

Start at least 4โ€“6 weeks before your IRP expiry date. In Dublin, appointment slots fill up quickly โ€” book as soon as the renewal window opens. Outside Dublin, contact your Garda station early.

Do not let your IRP expireOnce expired, your immigration permission has technically lapsed. This can affect your ability to work legally, open bank accounts, and access services. One late appointment can create weeks of complications. Renew on time.

Renewal step by step

If your circumstances changed

If your job, study situation, or family status changed since your last registration, your renewal may result in a different stamp type. Bring full documentation of your current situation. If unsure, check with INIS or an immigration adviser before attending.
