What Stamp 2 allows

Study

Full-time study at an approved institution on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP). Your IRP is linked to your course enrollment.

Work during term time

Up to 20 hours per week. Working more than 20 hours during term time is a breach of your immigration conditions โ€” this is checked against Revenue records.

Work during holidays

Up to 40 hours per week during official holiday periods. Use your college's published academic calendar to determine when holiday periods start and end.

Annual renewal

Your Stamp 2 IRP typically covers one academic year. You must renew annually with evidence of continued enrollment โ€” an official letter from your college for the upcoming year. Without this, renewal is refused.

Course progression mattersThe GNIB expects reasonable academic progress. Students who have repeated years multiple times or significantly changed course direction may face additional scrutiny at renewal. Bring evidence of academic progress to every renewal appointment.

After graduation โ€” Stamp 1G

After completing an eligible Irish higher education degree, you can apply for Stamp 1G โ€” a graduate permission allowing you to seek work in Ireland for up to 24 months, with full-time work rights. Apply to ISD with your graduation certificate. Stamp 1G does not apply automatically โ€” you must apply for it.
