What to do first

If your PSC is lost, report it to the DSP as soon as possible. While the PSC does not give direct access to your finances, it does contain your biometric data on the chip and can be used as photo ID. Reporting it means it can be flagged as invalid if someone tries to use it fraudulently.

How to get a replacement

Your entitlements are not affectedLosing your PSC does not affect any benefits or entitlements you have. Your SAFE registration remains valid. The card is just the physical token — the record is in the DSP system.

If your card was stolen

If you believe your card was stolen rather than simply lost, report it to the Gardaí as well. Get a crime reference number from the Gardaí — this can be useful if the card is misused for identity fraud.
